Interventional Radiology
Interventional radiology is the performance of (usually minimally invasive) medical procedures with the guidance of imaging technologies. This subspecialty covers a wide range of procedures from the relatively quick, such as an Ultrasound guided lymph node biopsy, to the highly complex, such as vascular angioplasty and stenting or tumor chemoembolization. Interventional radiologists also play a key role in the care of critically ill or emergency room patients who are too unstable to tolerate aggressive therapy or surgery.
